Enjoy the first self-fertile black sweet cherries of this popular home-grown variety. The large juicy cherries have a delicious flavour, they are sweetest when the tree is located somewhere that allows it have a long exposure to the sun.
The beautiful blossoms on this variety is beautiful in the spring with the dark fruits being produced in July.
Sunburst does best when planted in well-drained soil and can be trained to grow against a wall or a fence or can be grown simply into small bushy tree.
The fruits are fantastic when eaten fresh or when cooked in pies, tarts and preserves.
We recommend that you give Sunburst a rich soil and grow in a sunny part of the plot. Prune a quarter of the fruited stem in August down to a leafy-shoot further down the stem. This encourages a healthy balance of one and two+ year old stems which produces the maximum amount of cherries.
