Escallonia Leavis ‘Pink Elle’ is a compact evergreen shrub with abundant pink flowerheads in early summer. The flowerheads are larger than most other escallonias, and there is often a second flush of flowers in autumn.
This tough, resilient shrub will grow in most soil conditions and in sun or light shade, coping well with windy and coastal sites. It looks beautiful in the border, makes an excellent hedging plant and can even be grown in a large container.
Water regularly in the first year after planting while the plant is getting established.
Prune lightly in mid to late spring to maintain a neat shape. If grown as a hedge, Escallonia ‘Pink Elle’ can be trimmed regularly, although this will reduce flowering.
