Hyacinth ‘White Pearl’ – Indoor Bulbs
Prepared indoor hyacinth bulbs are a wonderful way to bring festive blooms into your home during the holiday season. If you enjoy having flowers indoors for Christmas, now is the perfect time to pre-order these bulbs.
Prepared Hyacinth Bulb ‘White Pearl’
- White Pearl is known for producing spikes of sweetly scented, pristine white flowers. It’s one of the best white hyacinths for forcing, offering fantastic scent and elegant petals.
- Plant the bulbs by October at the latest to ensure they bloom in time for Christmas.
Container Planting: Use bulb fibre and plant the bulbs with the tips showing above the compost surface. Hyacinths require a cool, dark period to mimic winter dormancy, followed by warmth and light to stimulate growth.
Forcing Process: Place the planted bulbs in a cool cupboard or garage for around 10 weeks, keeping them watered. Once flower buds emerge, move them to a warm, well-lit area.
Aftercare Indoors
- Rotation: Regularly turn the pots to prevent stems from leaning towards the light.
- Support:Â As stems emerge, provide support using canes, string, or decorative materials like coloured cornus or willow tied with natural raffia or ribbon.
Post-Flowering
After the hyacinth bulbs have finished flowering indoors, they can be transitioned outdoors to a sheltered position, allowing them to continue their growth cycle.
