Pea ‘Douce Provence’ is a small podded succulent pea and is a variety that can be overwintered. These multisown plugs contain several plants each which can either be planted as they are or gently teased apart and planted separately.
A compact, short-statured plant that typically only grows to a height of 70-80cm. It is recommended to offer some form of support for the tendrils to climb, such as leafless branches with an lots of twigs.
Plant in October directly in the soil – they will establish over the winter and start producing pods as early as May. In severe cold weather, use fleece or a cloche for protection.
Pick young pods and try to cook within the hour, for the best and sweetest taste.
