Seed Potato ‘Charlotte’ – 5kg
- Home-grower’s favourite
- Good-sized salad type
- Used at top tables
- Second Early Potatoes
Follow in the footsteps of expert home growers and grow Charlotte. It’s a salad potato loved for its excellent uniform shallow-eyed, long-oval tubers which grow 50% bigger than other salad varieties.
A versatile variety in the kitchen, tender creamy-yellow flesh remains very firm and has a mouth-watering texture whether hot or in salads! Charlotte gives you high yields when they are ready from June- just in time for the on-coming barbecue season.
We recommend you grow Charlotte in trenches if you have an allotment; if you’re short of space grow them in Marshalls Gro-Sacks which you can position on sunny patios near to your house. Just put five seed potatoes evenly placed in every Gro-Sack and get harvests six times the amount.
With blight resistance, and not particularly attractive to slugs they are a great a selection for organic growers that want to avoid harmful chemicals. You know you are onto a good one with Charlotte which has the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Seed Potatoes
All our seed potatoes are graded to a size 35mm x 35mm to 55mm x 55mm. This means that the smallest seed potatoes in the sample will not fall through an 35mm square. This does mean there will be various sizes within the pack. More modern varieties are more equal in size but as we want to offer the more unusual and Heritage varieties, these are more variable but we will always supply the weight stated. Any harvest will depend on individual growing conditions but generally smaller potatoes will produce smaller crops and larger potatoes will produce larger crops. But for example 1kg of seed potatoes will produce the same overall harvest whether the seed potatoes are small or large.
