Seed Potato ‘Red Duke Of York’ – 2kg
- Popular heritage variety
- Weather-resistant
- Attractive skin to flesh contrast
Red Duke of York Seed Potatoes are a heritage variety from 1942 which just goes to show how much of a firm-favourite this first early variety is. The red-skinned tubers have shallow eyes and yellow flesh for a lovely colour-contrast.
In the kitchen Red Duke of York is a potato packed with flavour and does not disintegrate on boiling.
Resistant to adverse weather this is a successful crop for growing in exposed areas and cooler regions of the North. They also store well in a cool place which means you can enjoy the flavoursome potatoes right through the summer and autumn.
Seed Potatoes
All our seed potatoes are graded to a size 35mm x 35mm to 55mm x 55mm. This means that the smallest seed potatoes in the sample will not fall through an 35mm square. This does mean there will be various sizes within the pack. More modern varieties are more equal in size but as we want to offer the more unusual and Heritage varieties, these are more variable but we will always supply the weight stated. Any harvest will depend on individual growing conditions but generally smaller potatoes will produce smaller crops and larger potatoes will produce larger crops. But for example 1kg of seed potatoes will produce the same overall harvest whether the seed potatoes are small or large.
