Prized for harvests of perfect, oval and unblemished potatoes Rocket is arguably the quickest potato variety from planting to harvest. Evenly sized every potato gives you delicious first early harvests ready in May – the start of summer. Giving very high yields Rocket is the variety to start your potato year off to a great start.
Resistant to potato cyst nematode, blackleg and splitting rest assured you are likely to get successful harvests untarnished by all these pesky diseases, pests and disorders.
We recommend you chit your potatoes on arrival until planting out from late March. Just place seed potatoes in egg cartons and leave them somewhere cool, dry and light. This encourages the stem bases on the potato surface to thicken up and strengthen prior to planting.
All our seed potatoes are graded to a size 35mm x 35mm to 55mm x 55mm. This means that the smallest seed potatoes in the sample will not fall through an 35mm square. This does mean there will be various sizes within the pack. More modern varieties are more equal in size but as we want to offer the more unusual and Heritage varieties, these are more variable but we will always supply the weight stated. Any harvest will depend on individual growing conditions but generally smaller potatoes will produce smaller crops and larger potatoes will produce larger crops. But for example 1kg of seed potatoes will produce the same overall harvest whether the seed potatoes are small or large.
